Since its inception, the airline has been the leading private air operator from Sri Lanka providing regular air services for the movement of International Air Freight. Its scheduled operations serve the perishable and general cargo market. Its charter service caters to ad-hoc requirements including outsized cargo movement within South Asia and the Middle East. The company’s main operating base is out of Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), Sri Lanka with regional bases in Dubai (DXB), Singapore (SIN) and Jakarta (CGK). FitsAir’s fleet comprises of Aircraft with various cargo & Passenger capacities to suit a range of operational requirements. The entire fleet requirement of FitsAir in Sri Lanka is serviced by FitsAir Ground Services, which includes Ramp, Cabin, Catering and Field operations.
FitsAir’s first commercial cargo flight was to Male, Maldives Islands in 1997. We have over 15 years of experience in contributing to the export industry by airlifting Non-Perishable (garments, canned foods, equipment and metals) and Perishable (lobsters, crabs, shrimp, fish, tea, cinnamon, and rubber and medical supplies) cargo to the Indian Sub-continent, Middle East and Central Asia.
We are proud to have played a role in empowering local producers to be competitive on a global scale by transporting fresh fruits and vegetables to bordering markets, when exporters were finding it difficult to adhere to their cargo requirements. Having been the first to operate to Iraq and Afghanistan on behalf of the WFP and other multinational Logistics providers, we possess extensive knowledge and experience in offering cargo transportation to such destinations. Moreover, we have operated more than 200 AN-12 flights for the US Postal Service (on behalf of KLM/NW) and over 1000 charter flights into Iraq and Afghanistan for world-renowned organizations alike.
FitsAir has a vast interline Network supported by Special Prorate agreements with over 50 leading partner carriers using its own IATA designated Airway bill (8D-319). FitsAir currently uplifts over 350 tonnes monthly on an interline basis by marketing a wide network of origins.In addition to its own cargo operation, FitsAir also functioned as the exclusive GSA for Sri Lanka’s national budget carrier handling its worldwide revenue management until it merged with the national carrier in November 2016.
