Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) Executive

Specific Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop, maintain and assist in the implementation of the SMS and ensure it meets the requirements of customer, legislation and regulation.
  • Developing the safety programme & Audit plan.
  • Developing and maintaining a configuration controlled SMS and managing changes as required
  • Provide oversight and assistance for the hazard management process.
  • Provide specialist assistance for accident/incident investigation.
  • Develop safety performance measures.
  • Develop and implement a safety review structure.
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining the SMS competencies and training interventions.
  • Define and maintain the safety communications strategy for departments.
  • As required, provide advice, information and coaching and ensure a safety culture is promoted.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of SMS IT solutions.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant knowledge and specialist in Aviation Safety Management System, background and satisfactory experience related to Aircraft Maintenance and Support operations in an availability contract environment minimum 2 years. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements e.g. CAASL /or Related European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Ability to support a continuous improvement culture underpinned by appropriate management reporting systems and escalation processes.

  • Aviation SMS Training / Human Factor Training / Internal Auditor Training
  • 2 / 2+ Years’ experience.
  • A good knowledge of aviation maintenance processes and safety management systems.
  • Effective and credible communicator with good interpersonal skills.
  • Would be expected to have people management responsibilities.
